Cantilever pumps are a type of centrifugal pump with one-way liquid supply to the impeller, located at the end of the shaft remote from the drive. Cantilever pumps are equipped with an electric motor installed, as a rule, on a single platform or connected by a flange.

Cantilever pumps are used for pumping water, chemically active liquids, liquids including impurities and solid inclusions.

To the workers the centrifugal wheel is the organ of the cantilever pump.

Impeller When the impeller rotates on liquid, inside the wheel, a centrifugal force acts in direct proportion to the distance of the liquid particle from the center wheel and the square of the angular speed of rotation of the wheel. Under the action of this force, the liquid is thrown out of the working wheel into the discharge pipe, a vacuum is created in the center of the wheel, and increased pressure in its peripheral part. The movement of liquid along the suction pipeline occurs due to the pressure difference over the free surface liquids in the receiving tank and in the central area of the wheel.

As a rule, to the group of cantilever pumps are centrifugal single-stage, cast iron pumps with one-way liquid supply to the impeller. Wheel such a pump is located at the end of the shaft (console) mounted in the bearings of the pump housing or electric motor. Many other types of pumps (chemical, fecal, soil, etc.) have the same design.
