Molasses is a very thick, viscous and sweet dark-colored product. In appearance and consistency it resembles a dark syrup. Molasses does not harm human health in any way, therefore it is widely used in various areas of the food industry. However, to work with this substance, you need to select the right pump for pumping molasses.

This product has very high viscosity and ductility. Moreover, at low temperatures these properties are noticeably enhanced. Because of this, pumping the mixture is quite difficult, so you need to choose units with optimal performance.

The following pumps can be used to handle molasses:

• Screw - the basis of such units is the stator and rotor. During operation, these elements come into contact, forming sealed cavities. Thanks to this, when the rotor rotates, molasses is drawn out of the suction pipe.
• Gear - pumps the working medium from the inlet pipe to the pressure pipe. This occurs along the outer contour of two identical gears. When they come into contact, closed cavities form between their teeth. A certain amount of molasses moves inside these “pockets”.
• Pneumatic membrane - molasses is pumped through the operation of special flexible membranes. Equipment requires compressed air to operate, so it is important to organize its supply at the enterprise if required.
• Peristaltic hose pumps are pumps for molasses in which the substance is supplied through an elastic hose. Special rollers press the elastomer tube, moving the working medium.
