Pump for potassium bichromate, caustic soda

Potassium hydroxide, also known as "caustic potassium", is a highly alkaline base that is usually supplied in granule form. The granules dissolve easily in water, causing a strong exothermic reaction.

Potassium hydroxide is very aggressive. Potassium hydroxide is highly caustic and corrosive.

Chemical pumps are capable of pumping potassium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide pumps come in five versions: MB series sealed centrifugal pumps, DM series sealed magnetic coupling pumps and CUBIC and BOXER series pneumatic diaphragm pumps, IM series vertical semi-submersible pumps, TR series drum pumps.

Specific gravity can vary greatly as concentration increases; from 1 for 1% to 1.5 for 50%. It is highly recommended to use a leak proof pumping solution such as magnetic drive centrifugal pump.

Depending on the concentration and temperature, both metallic and non-metallic models may be specified. Steel alloys SS316L and 304L are chemically resistant in the environment; however, when the temperature rises, it is recommended to use a pump made of PP/PVDF. PTFE or Viton O-rings are recommended.
