Molecular Sieve 5A

A 5A molecular sieve is a material used to adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of no more than 5. The substance is a type of aluminosilicate with a type 5A calcium crystal structure. Most often, this molecular sieve is used to dry gas from water and carbon dioxide. It can also be used to separate various gases or perform adsorption by pressure drops.
Before use, be sure to store the product in vacuum packages or in containers where there is no direct access to air. Since the product absorbs moisture well, the room should be dry and ventilated to prevent the preliminary start of chemical filtration reactions. After use, it can be regenerated using special manipulations. It can be used for various purposes.
Areas of application of molecular sieve 5A
The scope of application of molecular sieve 5A is extremely different, but mainly the substance is used to absorb moisture in certain systems. 5A can be used for:
- Natural gas drying.
- Removal of carbon dioxide from mixtures.
- Oxygen and nitrogen separation.
- Nitrogen and hydrogen separation.
- Separating nitrogen and hydrogen to get oxygen.
- Oil dewaxing.
- Separation of normal-type alkanes from cycloalkanes.
Most often, such processes are performed by pressure drops to trigger adsorption. The sieve 5A can be regenerated by reducing the pressure, if the pressure was with differences, or by heating in cases of elevated temperatures.

The 5A molecular sieve has the same properties as other models, such as 3 or 4. However, it is able to filter larger kinetic diameter molecules. This difference makes it possible to effectively use this sieve on an industrial scale, where such functions are required.
