Yeast for beer
Absolutely all yeast for beer production are living organisms, namely single-celled fungi. Their exact number has not yet been established by science. And although scientists have already studied about 1,500 species, there is an opinion that there are actually many more.
In the nutrient medium, beer yeast enters the active reproduction stage. And among the products of their metabolism, the most popular are ethanol and carbon dioxide, as well as others. Thanks to them, the alcohol percentage is formed, as well as the foam and taste.
During brewing, the main nutritional component is wort. This solution is brewed from hops, water and grains. Brewing yeast is also used to make baked goods and to produce wine.
