Heat-insulating balls for Sous Vide
Heat insulating balls for Sous Vide, reducing heat loss by up to 90%, improving the accuracy of temperature measurement, reducing evaporation and therefore water loss.
Material:
- PP (polypropylene);
- color can be chosen;
- 100% BPA free, non-toxic.
Standard sizes: 19.05mm, 20mm, 25mm, 25.4mm, 28.6mm, 35.56mm etc. (Φ9.5mm-φ100mm).
By covering the surface of your cooking pot with these polypropylene balls, you can achieve up to 90% reduction in water evaporation, which is critical when cooking with the thermocirculator for an extended period of time. The unwanted effects of light and odors are also significantly reduced.
Polypropylene balls are light weight with a very hard and smooth surface which also helps to prevent bacteria and chemical corrosion. The steam trap balls allow you to cook without a lid with minimal heat loss and evaporation.
Characteristics:
- Evaporation prevention. The insulation helps prevent evaporation from the pan. This is especially important for longer cooking times or when cooking at higher temperatures.
- Improving efficiency. Besides controlling evaporation, having some sort of cover helps with energy consumption and efficiency. The more heat remains in the vessel, the less work is done to maintain the temperature.
- Maximum tank capacity. Proper insulation also allows cooking in containers larger than the recommended maximum tank capacity.
- Flexibility. Sous vide balls can be dropped into any container to insulate it, regardless of size or shape, as long as there are enough of them to cover the surface of the water.
- Price. A quick search reveals that most bags of balls (you need 75-100) are half the price of a standard liter.
- Easy to use. Another bonus is the ability to add food, adjust food placement, or remove food without fiddling with an extra lid. Just reach straight in with the tongs or grab the edge of the bag.
- Easy cleaning. When you're done, simply drain the water through a strainer to catch the sous vide balls, then store them in a container to reduce kitchen clutter.
